New Trends In Wedding Reception Desserts: We Review Sugar Bowl’s Baked Goods and Marich Candies

This was indeed a weekend of treats for us, as we indulged in some of the goodies from Sugar Bowl Bakery. Many of Sugar Bowl’s products are trans-fat free, including its line of donuts and flaky petite palmiers made from 100 percent butter and 300 layers of dough.  We couldn’t stop eating the dainty buttery French cake cookies called madeleines.  We thought the Petite Brownie Bites were perfect for a large gathering-they burst with chocolaty flavor, had perfect moist texture, but were not too messy or gooey.  Ditto for the madeleine brownie combination called Duet Bites.   All of these goodies would be great a wedding reception dessert table. Sugar Bowl Bakery products are sold at retailers nationwide and will soon be available online.

Another set of treats we sampled were candies to offer at a wedding dessert bar.  Dessert tables “bars” are very “in,” right now for wedding receptions, and they create an opportunity for you to make your reception more personal. You might like some of the premium chocolates from Marich Confectionary for yours. Marich is a second-generation California family business with 60 years’ experience in confectionary art. Marich specializes in chocolate-covered premium fruits and hand-roasted nuts. They are superb. And why shouldn’t they be? Marich sources most of its ingredients from local California producers. We sampled Marich’s chocolate cherries and berries, chocolate toffee almonds, natural chocolate strawberries, natural sea salt caramels, colorful Jordan almonds, and Holland mints. Yum! All would make a colorful display in large crystal or glass bowls at your reception, shower, or engagement party.
